SUPPORT TYP

SUPPORT THE CHILDREN

  • Prevent the dismantlement and eradication of TYP.

  • Preserve and expand TYP for current and future students.

The TYP RSM Coalition is eager to partner with groups, organizations, companies, and individuals who are interested in learning more about TYP and engaging in ways to help secure the future of the program.

With the effects of the ongoing decisions being made by the university's governing council regarding TYP, the program is drastically impacted by the limit placed on its finances.

Consequently, the TYP RSM Coalition hopes to find monetary support, in addition to that given to the coalition through resources, gift-in-kind contributions and the investment of time and effort offered by TYP allies and supporters.

Help Expand TYP!

In the wake of post-secondary tuition hikes, cutbacks to programs and departments, and ongoing academic pressures, the University of Toronto's 43 year-old Transitional Year Programme was under a vicious attack by the university's governing council.

However, after a long awaited response from the university to address the concerns and needs of TYP, the program will continue for yet another year for a new group of students during the 2013-2014 study period! Nonetheless, the fight continues to ensure that the program can continue to be delivered with the same level of academic, structural and financial support that is found in the program's past years of success.

Moreover, U of T's boundless campaign still fails to serve the students and faculty of TYP due to inequitable distribution of donated funds. Donations towards equity are presently being invested in Woodsworth College's Academic Bridging program based on the preferences of donors, as noted by the institution's governing council. Council members also informed TYP that in order to obtain funds, the program will have to raise money independently or pay those working with the Boundless campaign to gather program funding.

Ultimately, the TYP RSM Coalition is striving to secure TYP beyond 43 years, and expand the program to help improve more lives and build healthier communities.

We ask for continued support. It's not too late, you too can contribute to the success and longevity of TYP!
